Revised Joint Public Hearing Draft Zoning Ordinance
A public hearing has been set for May 20, 2024.
While the public hearing will allow any comment on the overall ordinance, prior comments are already part of the record, and the change requiring this additional hearing and its focus is the amendment to add the SDP expiration clause.

Following the February and March Joint Work Sessions of the Mayor, City Council, and Planning Commission, the draft ordinance has been updated to reflect feedback we have received since the February release of the draft ordinance.

The Retool Gaithersburg team presented the contents of the draft zoning ordinance at Joint Work Sessions of the Mayor, City Council, and Planning Commission in February and March of 2024 to provide detail regarding the proposed updates to Gaithersburg's Zoning Ordinance.

Draft of the Revised Zoning Ordinance is now available.
A complete draft of the revised Zoning Ordinance is now ready for review. The complete draft reflects the findings and feedback given through previous phases of this project. In conjunction with the release of this document, the City will host additional opportunities to provide feedback and discuss the contents of the revised Zoning Ordinance through late Winter and Spring of 2024. Check the Project Events page more information when it is available.

Diagnostic Report Public Forum: Presentation and Transcripts available
The Diagnostic Report was developed over the last several months and we scheduled two meetings on June 1st at 12pm and 7pm to review the report with the community. The transcripts from the meeting, the video of the presentation, and a full copy of the report are available below.
The report analyzes the current zoning code and evaluates how it helps to achieve or impedes the stated objectives and goals of the City.

Kick-Off Meeting Presentations
Two kick-off meetings for Retool Gaithersburg occurred on Feb 23, 2023 via zoom and were open to all members of the public. The presentations were identical although attendee questions varied between the two sessions. The presentations outlined the scope of the project, timeline, and allowed participants the opportunity to ask questions. Below, see the meeting videos or download a copy of the presentation.
